Nintendo Switch Lite and Other Game Stuff

So Nintendo announced and showed the Switch Lite, which will be released September 20th, 2019.  I own the main system but will probably get a Lite as well.  They come in 3 different colors, yellow, grey, and turquoise.  There’s also an exclusive Pokemon Sword and Shield version coming out.  These are basically a trimmed down version of the Switch for a cheaper price, $200.  It’s more portable and sleeker so easy to use on the go.  Also, it doesn’t have the ability to be docked or connected/played on the TV.  It’s handheld only, which I think is actually nice.  Of course, having that ability on the main switch is awesome but there are many people who prefer to game solely in handheld mode.  I tend to mainly use mine in handhold.  It’s a great option for people wanting to play on the Switch but can’t afford or don’t want to pay the $300 for the  main system.

I’m still playing Animal Crossing New Leaf and trying to finish paying off my home loan, it’s taking quite awhile.  I legitimately just found out you can stack fruit into baskets and I’ve been playing the game for around 2 years!  How I missed that is beyond me.  I was so happy to find out because I like selling fruit since there’s a lot in my town but it was tedious the way I was doing it before.

Also continuing playing Yonder : The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, at 39% completion so far. It’s so much fun to explore and is a great game, it deserves more recognition.

Going through Pokemon Let’s Go and making sure I beat all the coach trainers, and worming on beating all the master trainers.  So far I’ve just got the title of Pikachu Master. Still need to catch Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave. Oh yeah, I bought the crown accessory for my Pikachu .  $999,999 Pokedollars and completely unnecessary but why not! lol

I’m getting a mouse for my laptop.  I got 2 games for my PC recently (Assassins Creed: Unity and The Sims 4) and know nothing about gaming on a computer, the controls are completely unfamiliar to me.  I think having a mouse will make things quite a bit easier.

There are so many great games coming out within the next year and I’m excited play them and for my collection to grow.

Thanks for reading!

Animal Crossing, What it’s About and Why I Love It

img_2215

Animal Crossing is one of my favorite game series. I love it because it’s charming, relaxing, laid back, and can be played endlessly as there’s really no beginning or end/complex story line, which may sound unappealing to some but I find it to be wonderful and freeing, giving players the ability really make the town their own.

I had never played an Animal Crossing game until I bought New Leaf, and instantly fell in love.  It’s a series that began all the way back in 2001.  Somehow, I never heard much about it, probably because I wasn’t seriously into gaming aside from the Pokemon titles until a couple years ago.  In AC New Leaf, you become the mayor of a town full of Animal characters.  As the mayor, you have many duties such as keeping up with maintaining the environment (pulling weeds, watering/planting flowers, disposing of any garbage found), doing tasks requested by the villagers which may include things like getting them a certain type of fruit, fish, bug, or piece of furniture.  You also get to do public works projects which are different features you can fund to be put into your town like water fountains, bridges, windmills, and many others.  Another responsibility as mayor is enacting town ordinances.

As the mayor you get to have your own house and expand it by paying off home loans from a character named Tom Nook.  To do this you can sell fruit, fish, sea shells, fossils, and any items you acquire throughout the game.  That’s another amazing aspect, there are SO many different items, wallpapers/flooring and furniture that can be used to decorate one’s home.  Another task is bringing fish, fossils, bugs, and pieces of art to the town museum run by an owl named Blathers.

There’s endless possibilities to make the town and your home into whatever theme or style you want.  It’s the most laid back game I’ve ever played, and the music is very relaxing.  I often find myself playing to relieve anxiety and stress, which from what I’ve read many others experience mental health benefits from playing.

After falling in love with New Leaf I discovered there was another AC available for the DS previously released called Wild World.  I’ve been playing around with that one and it’s a lot of fun as well.  The new AC game (titled New Horizons) for the Nintendo Switch was announced last week at E3. It’s not being released until March 20th, 2020 but I believe it’s definitely worth the wait.  The trailer/gameplay looks wonderful and I’m looking forward to playing when it’s released.  It happens to be coming out on International Happiness Day, not sure if that was intended or not but it certainly fits as Animal Crossing brings happiness to many. 🙂

What am I Playing?

On my Nintendo Switch I’m playing Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles.  This is a fun, relaxing game with beautiful graphics.  It’s been described by some people as being kinda like a cross between Zelda and Stardew Valley, and in my opinion that is a fantastic combo!

On my Xbox 360 I’m playing Smackdown Vs Raw 2009.  I don’t have an Xbox One yet, I plan on getting one, but I only just recently (One year ago) received the 360 as a gift from my brother in-law since he upgraded to the Xbox One.  Prior to that I had never had any consoles by Microsoft, I mainly had Nintendo systems.  I always loved the Smackdown Vs. Raw games, I used to be a huge wrestling fan, it started with a crush on John Cena over 10 years ago haha but I eventually really got into it.  I remember playing one on my PS2 and loving it so much, I really enjoy the character creation thing, I love making really bizarre characters 🙂  It’s very nostalgic for me.  The main reason I got the 2009 version (I’m aware there’s much more recent versions) is because I know all the wrestlers from then, I’m not familiar with any of the newer ones.

Of course, I’m still constantly playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my Nintendo 3DS. It’s so relaxing, and I’ve had the game for over 5 years but I’m just this past year getting into it since I’ve discovered all the things you can do.  I’m still paying off my home loan from Tom Nook, it seems like it’s taking forever!  But it’s a lot of fun.  My town is called Mapleton, it has a long way to go. I’m really hoping for news on AC for the Switch tomorrow. Either way I have lots to do in New Leaf for now.

Here is my backlog of games, there’s 17 of them I own that I’m wanting to play within the next year or so.  I have many other games but these are on my priority list.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Sims 4

The Sims 3

LEGO The Hobbit

LEGO The Lord of the Rings

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

Alan Wake

Minecraft

LEGO Harry Potter (Years 1-4 and 5-7)

Grand Theft Auto IV

Fantasy Life

LEGO The Incredibles

Call of Dury 2

Skyrim

Red Dead Redemption (The first one)

Yo-Kai Watch

It’s Raining in My Apartment

My ceiling is dripping, it has been almost all day for the past several days.  Maintenance is supposed to find out what the problem is on Monday.  This was a huge issue like 2 years ago, I had to have half my ceiling replaced.  Now it’s happening again.  It’s driving me crazy.  I just want this resolved as soon and as fast as possible.  I hate having a bunch of people in my apartment doing work.  Especially with my 2 cats here, they get scared of people they don’t know and hide.

I’ve been playing Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles for the Nintendo Switch and OMG it’s amazing!  The graphics are stunning, and the gameplay fun and relaxing.  I’m just 16% complete so far and am in no hurry to finish, exploring the island of Gemea is so much fun.

I’m anxiously awaiting and hoping for information on the new Animal Crossing game for the Switch at E3!

Here’s a few screenshots of Yonder:

Update

FSCN1541.jpg

I love nature, this is a picture I took around the autumn of this year

I’m extremely frustrated with the place I currently live, I’m trying to get into a different apartment, hoping there’s an opening soon in the place I applied to.

I was struggling very badly with sleep for awhile but my seroquel was increased and I’ve been getting great rest.  I was actually hallucinating from so much sleep deprivation, that’s how I spent my birthday

I plan on doing some things I’ve been putting off for way too long next week.  Dentist, and also getting a physical.  Trying to stop putting stuff off and procrastinating and just do what I need to when I should.  I’m a little worried about going to the dentist.  A few years ago I got all the work I needed to get done from the damage due to purging but I had maybe a 6 month long relapse since then and I’m scared to find out how much I screwed up my teeth again.  I really hope this will be the last time I have to deal with this, I know I’ll have to get a lot of work done.

This coming weekend is going to be relaxing.  I’m going to make peanut butter fudge and enjoy the new game I bought for my Nintendo Switch, Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles.  It looks like an amazing game from what I’ve seen!

Thanks for reading! 🙂

Update: Missing Inspiration

I’ve been very exhausted during the day, so much that I fall asleep for an hour or so by the mid-morning/afternoon, so I spoke to my pharmacist about switching one of my medications to night time and she said that was okay, so I’ll be trying that out tomorrow, hoping that helps!  I’ve been quite unmotivated lately, which I’m trying to work on.  Was feeling depressed for awhile but I seem to be doing better in that regard the past few days.  Did some yoga and drew a picture earlier.  Need to take some walks during the weekend.  It’s going to rain and I’m very happy about that, not a fan of hot weather.  I prefer rain or snow actually, something about summer frustrates me.  I think it’s because there’s so many people out and about, makes me very anxious.  I like the calm feeling of rainy days and the quietness of winter.

I’m trying to find how to get my inspiration back, I used to be inspired easily to write, draw, and do other projects. It’s like I’m missing the spark I used to have.  Anyone have any tips?

Really have been getting back into gaming.  Lately I’ve been playing Story of Seasons: A Trio of Towns.  It’s very relaxing and fun.  Also have been messing around on the Sims 4, making weird characters. I am really looking forward to E3 and hopefully finding out news about the new Animal Crossing game, there’s been no details released even though they announced it a long time ago.

Caught Zapdos today on Lets Go Pikachu!

Games – Lets Go Pikachu!

So I finally bought a Nintendo Switch last month, and I absolutely love it!  I really like that it can be played either in handheld or on the TV, even though I mostly use handheld it’s a nice options and fun to see Nintendo games on the big screen again.

The game I’ve been playing most recently is Pokemon: Lets Go Pikachu!

I love it!  I never actually got a chance to play the original Pokemon Yellow since I didn’t really get into the gaming aspect of Pokemon until the third generation of games (Ruby/Sapphire, Fire Red/Leaf Green) so it’s a fresh experience for me.

I like that wild Pokemon are visible, while I do enjoy the random encounters of past games I feel more motivated to catch Pokemon in this mode.  It’s really neat seeing them all walking around!

I just received my 7th badge and am about to take on Viridian City gym.

Here are some screenshots from my game 🙂

Sticking With Games

I have a tendency to start playing a game then bounce around between various ones and never get very far in any of them. And I buy more and more and have stacks of them I want to get to, it’s been driving me crazy. I decided I’m going to just focus on two games at time for right now and try to make some progress in them.

I’ll be playing one on my Xbox 360, Harry Potter LEGO Years 5-7, and Animal Crossing New Leaf on my Nintendo 3DS.

Animal Crossing New Leaf

I decided I want to make my Animal Crossing town Japanese themed. I’m not sure yet what I want to do with the houses. I know I want one to be Horror/Halloween themed. I finally found all the fossils for the museum. I’m pretty much just working on paying off the main house loan right now and trying to get requests from villagers so I have more public works projects I can choose from to start making the town look nice. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I got my first golden tool the other day! It was the golden slingshot. The rest of my tools are silver.

Harry Potter LEGO (Years 5-7)

Harry Potter LEGO games are so much fun and so expansive. You can explore all of Hogwarts and there’s tons of stuff to do even aside from the main story. I have years 1-4 and years 5-7 on both my 3DS and Xbox 360. The 3DS ones are pretty cool and I enjoy them but they’re nowhere near the level of the Xbox and PS4 versions.

Anybody else playing any games lately?

Update: Books, Games, and College

Things have been going well lately.! I’ve been getting good sleep and haven’t been having panic attacks.  I’ve only heard voices  two times in the past week and both times I was able to pull myself back into reality and disengage from them.  I’m so happy about that, I feel like I’m getting a break for once.

I’ve been dealing with my anxiety pretty well.  I have tons of ways to distract myself.  Lately it’s been reading and videogames.  I’m reading The Chronicles of Narnia right now.  I can’t believe I never began reading it until now, it’s been on my “to read” list forever.  I’m really enjoying it, the imagery from the story is amazing.  It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten into any good fantasy novels.  I love them but have been reading more non-fiction lately.

These are the games I’ve been playing (all on my Nintendo 3DS)

  • The Lord of The Rings (LEGO)
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf
  • Pokemon Alpha Sapphire

I know there’s a new Animal Crossing game coming out this year and I can’t wait!  I don’t have a Nintendo Switch yet but will be getting one soon.  I still have so many games I own that I haven’t played yet or much of with both my 3DS and Xbox 360.

The new semester begins tomorrow.  I’m extremely anxious, but in a good way.  I’m so excited that I probably won’t be able to sleep tonight, I never am the night before something I’m really looking forward to happens.

Oh yeah, we got over a foot of snow, 15 inches to be exact.  I love it!  It’s super cold outside. 😀

What Helps Me When Anxious

Lately I’ve had a lot of severe anxiety but I’ve been able to cope with it pretty well.  Here’s some of the things that have helped me:

  1. Journaling:  Last night I couldn’t sleep and my mind was racing so I got up and started writing in my journal, just about everything going on in my mind.  Normally when I journal it’s just to write about what’s been going on in my life and I’ve never really used as a coping skill during an actual problem with anxiety or anything else.  It was a good experience and I’m wondering why I never used it that way before.  I just kept writing until I calmed down eventually.  I like documenting things going on in my life but this was really helpful for releasing anxiety onto paper.
  2. Videogames: I love playing games and the other night I was panicking so I decided to play Lord of the Rings LEGO on my 3DS.  It was so relaxing! I play wide array of games but I think my top games to play when trying to relax would be Animal Crossing and any of the LEGO games.   Some games are too stimulating for that purpose and more complex, which I enjoy but they aren’t as helpful when trying to reduce panic because it requires too much concentration.
  3. Drawing or Coloring: I love drawing and coloring, and I don’t do it often enough.  I think it was maybe last week I was really having a hard time sleeping so I got my sketch book out and started doodling some zentangle stuff while listening to music.  It’s a nice way to be creative and keep my hands busy.
  4. Praying: I’m Catholic, so I find praying the Rosary to be calming.  It’s repetitive and a good way to meditate, plus the beads feel nice to hold and help keep track of the prayers.  I feel like I’m holding onto my faith physically when I pray with rosary beads.

I’ve noticed a lot of the anxiousness happens at night and the four things that have been most helpful all involve using my hands (holding pencils, the rosary, video game).  I’m not really sure why I get so anxious towards the evening.  It’s a lot worse when I haven’t slept the previous night.  I get hyper aware of everything, especially my heartbeat and I start thinking I’m dying.  I’m proud of myself for taking action and distracting myself when these things happen because I had a tendency in the past to just get consumed by it and freak out even more.  Meditating while closing my eyes used to help me but for some reason it causes me to have the physical sensation that I’m flying or on a roller coaster blindfolded when I do which makes things worse.  I’ve been wondering about other hobbies I could get into that could be helpful as well.  I know a lot of people enjoy crocheting, maybe I’ll try that someday.
