Bought a new gaming console

I’ve been doing really well.  A medication increase has helped me a lot.  My mood has been great and I have little anxiety.  I was struggling for awhile with a really bad depressive episode and extreme anxiety, frequent panic attacks.

I’m also using a lot of coping skills too of course.  One new favorite is meditation, it’s a great way to relax and calm my mind.  Mindfulness is great too, being present in the moment and aware.  That helps ease my anxiety.  I also journal every day, good way to get all the thoughts running through my head out.  And then there’s my hobbies that I do which keep me in a positive mood.

Oh yeah, big news, I finally bought an Xbox One!!!  It should be delivered sometime next week.  I’m super excited.  I’ve only ever had the 360 so I figured it is way beyond time for an upgrade.  I’m also happy that it can play Blu Ray discs and DVDs.  I had never had a Blu Ray player before, and it was kind of frustrating because a lot of the movies available to check out at the library were Blu Ray but I could only play regular DVDs.  I have some Xbox 360 games that are compatible with the Xbox One so I’m probably going to be playing those first then buy new games later on.  Eventually I’d like to get a PS4 as well.

So it’s been 3 months in my new apartment and I really love it.  It’s so nice and cozy.  I feel safe and have a lot of support.

There’s a lot I want to do in terms of decorating I haven’t gotten to yet.  But I did buy a bedding set recently which I love

I still need to get curtains.  And more furniture.  A desk near the windows where I can do my drawing.  A welcome mat for outside my door, pretty shower curtain, etc… I’ll be able to do it over the next several months, just doing a little at a time.

Anyway, this was a long random post but thanks for reading!

Videogame Journal

I recently bought The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame for my Nintendo Switch.  I love the lego games so I’m looking forward to getting into it.  There’s always so much to do and unlock.  I actually bought it at a Gamestop which was fun, normally I just order my games through Amazon but it was really fun being in a physical store with all the games and merchandise around, really tempting to spend lots of money haha.

I’m counting down until Animal Crossing: New Horizons is released, not too much longer!  Can’t wait!  I love AC games.  They’ve always been so relaxing and beneficial to my mental health.  The graphics look wonderful.  I can definitely see myself putting hundreds plus hours into it like I’ve done with the previous games.

Still playing Stardew Valley.  Joined a group for the game on Facebook and I’m amazed at everyone’s farms.  I haven’t really put any thought into mine, it’s honestly just a big mess.  But I’m getting inspired to make my farm nice.  Finally saved up enough to get the final house upgrade, now I’m just collecting the hardwood required for it. It’s really astounding how much there is to do in SV.   It was definitely a good purchase.

I finished the main game in Pokemon Sword, now I’m just working on filling up my Pokedex and breeding Pokemon to try and get shinies.  I’m looking forward to the expansion pass coming out.

That’s all that’s going on for me right now in terms of games.  I’m planning on saving money for an Xbox one, so hopefully I can get it by the summer.

Thanks for reading!

Moving and Other Stuff

Lots of stress going on lately.  Getting ready to hopefully move in mid February, I have all the documents needed for the new apartment complex so I just need to submit the ones I had been waiting on next week.

It’s very cold here, when I went out in the morning it was 9 degrees Fahrenheit.  My face froze and I felt like a had a brain freeze too!  It felt good to come back inside and have a hot cup of coffee.

Starting a 30 day challenge of eating no junk food, and praying the Rosary daily.  I’ll begin tomorrow.  Trying to implement some better habits into my life.  It’s going to be difficult, mainly the 30 days without junk food.  I will document it with blog posts.  I’m a major sugar addict.

Playing a lot of Stardew Valley and Pokemon Sword lately.

There’s so much to do in Stardew it’s amazing.  Saving up to get another building on my farm to store trunks in.  My character is married now, to Harvey.  Trying to become friends with the wizard so I can change my appearance.  Also working on getting the final house upgrade.  I’ve been getting most of my money from fishing, it’s just really relaxing.  I find I love fishing in many games, Animal Crossing, The Sims, other RPGs like Fantasy Life and Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons.

In Pokemon Sword I’m about to face the champion then after that I’ll work on completing my Pokedex and getting shinies.

Have so much to do in the next couple of weeks with packing and cleaning.  I’m donating a TON of books to make the move easier and keep my life a little simpler/less cluttered in the new place.  Just hanging onto a few favorite series, some of my Catholic books, and a couple autographed books.  Also got rid of tons and tons of stuff I no longer needed, just all kinds of random things.  Feels good, it will be a nice fresh start!

Twinkle Twinkle..

I’m having sooo much fun with my ukulele, learned how to play twinkle twinkle little star today! 🙂  Really excited to have this as a hobby now, I’ve missed playing musical instruments (played the violin for a long time and also guitar for awhile).

Anyway, things are going pretty well.  I’m happy.  My anxiety has been very bad lately but there are reasons for that.  I’m trying not to dwell on stuff I can’t control. Had a very nice Christmas.  Hoping to be able to move soon but it’s a long process.

I’ve been playing Pokemon Sword and it’s amazing, like seriously such an awesome game. Already put 7 hours into it and I’ve only had it a few days.  Still playing Stardew Valley, my character is finally dating one of the NPCs, took a long time to get the hearts up because I wasn’t focused on that the first couple of in-game years.  I’ve gotten to level 90 I think in the mines.  I bought the game Graveyard Keeper the other day for my Switch, it’s really weird but cool so I’m looking forward to getting into that.

Gaming Thoughts

Lately I’ve been mainly playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Stardew Valley.  They’re both extremely relaxing games.  As a matter of fact, I played ACNL tonight after struggling with racing thoughts.  It really helped me chill out.

I have so many games on my backlog it’s not even funny.  I’ve really gotta start playing some more of them.  I try to limit myself to 2 to 3 games at a time (each on a different console) so I can fully focus on them.

2 upcoming games I’m hyped about are Pokemon Sword/Shield and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I plan on getting Pokemon Sword within the next couple months. ACNH doesn’t come out till March so that gives me time to save money.  I’ll post my thoughts on both the games once I play them.  I’m limiting myself from buying a lot of new games right now because I have so many I own that I’ve yet to play.  I’m trying to decide on what to start on my Xbox.  I’m leaning towards Grand Theft Auto IV: Liberty City.

What I’ve Been Playing – September 2019

Right now I’m replaying Pokemon Y, this time with EXP Share turned off to make it more of a challenge.  I completely forgot how awesome the X/Y games were!  It makes me excited to have seen the in depth footage from the Nintendo Direct about Pokemon Sword/Shield.  The new game looks amazing and like a lot of work was put into it.  The character customization options looks great too. I really wasn’t a fan of Sun/Moon so I’m ready for a new adventure!

I’m continuing to play Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, 57% completion as of now.  I took some time off from playing games when I wasn’t doing well so I’m not as far as I probably would have been by now.  Still love it and am amazed with all the different areas and crafting abilities.  It’s really an underrated game.

The 3rd game I’m playing is Assassins Creed III.  I had never played any of the Assassins Creed games before and got a couple from my brother in-law when he gave me his old Xbox 360 so I thought I’d give them a try.  I’m really enjoying it so far, it seems like it will be a lot of fun.  The only thing I don’t like is that it takes awhile before you’re able to free roam and explore but other than that I like it very much.

Update – Eating Disorder Relapse and Other Stuff

I had, I don’t know, I guess it would be called a relapse with my eating disorder.  Yesterday was rough. I feel like I’m failing with recovery but I’m going to keep moving forward. There’s no such thing as perfect, people make mistakes.

Anyway, things are going pretty well otherwise. My ceiling is in the process of being repaired from the water damage. That should be finished this week thankfully, it says been giving me a lot of anxiety.

I’ve been playing a lot of Stardew Valley, it’s such a relaxing game. It’s fall right now in my game so I’m growing a bunch of pumpkins 🎃. I’ve also been playing Hexalogic, it’s a sudoku type game, I got it awhile back for $2.99 on the Nintendo Switch Eshop. There’s well over 90 levels, the graphics are beautiful and the music and sound effects are very chill and relaxing.

Currently Playing… #1

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I’ve been having internet issues on and off the past week or so.  Anyway, things are going very well!

I started playing The Hobbit LEGO on my Nintendo 3DS.  I have it for my Xbox 360 as well, which I’ll play through eventually too.  It would be nice if a remastered version of that and The Lord of the Rings LEGO for the switch like they did with the Harry Potter games.  I’ve been meaning to re-read the books at some point as well, such a great story!

On my Xbox 360 I’ve started playing Red Dead Redemption.  I’m basically just getting the hang of the game and controls right now since I’m not very familiar with it and it’s been awhile since I’ve played.  I love the scenery and am saving money for an Xbox One so I can play RDR 2 eventually which looks amazing.  Right now I’ve been doing a lot of bounty hunting which is pretty fun.

With Animal Crossing New Leaf I’m getting closer to paying off my entire house loan with all the expansions.  I’ve put 150 hours into the game over the past 2 years and am finally getting there!  It’s taken so long but I don’t mind because of how relaxing the game-play is.

I saw that the Nintendo Switch Lite is available for pre-order.  I’ll likely eventually get the yellow one and also the Pokemon special edition version.

Feel free to comment with whatever you’re currently playing! 🙂

Nintendo Switch Lite and Other Game Stuff

So Nintendo announced and showed the Switch Lite, which will be released September 20th, 2019.  I own the main system but will probably get a Lite as well.  They come in 3 different colors, yellow, grey, and turquoise.  There’s also an exclusive Pokemon Sword and Shield version coming out.  These are basically a trimmed down version of the Switch for a cheaper price, $200.  It’s more portable and sleeker so easy to use on the go.  Also, it doesn’t have the ability to be docked or connected/played on the TV.  It’s handheld only, which I think is actually nice.  Of course, having that ability on the main switch is awesome but there are many people who prefer to game solely in handheld mode.  I tend to mainly use mine in handhold.  It’s a great option for people wanting to play on the Switch but can’t afford or don’t want to pay the $300 for the  main system.

I’m still playing Animal Crossing New Leaf and trying to finish paying off my home loan, it’s taking quite awhile.  I legitimately just found out you can stack fruit into baskets and I’ve been playing the game for around 2 years!  How I missed that is beyond me.  I was so happy to find out because I like selling fruit since there’s a lot in my town but it was tedious the way I was doing it before.

Also continuing playing Yonder : The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, at 39% completion so far. It’s so much fun to explore and is a great game, it deserves more recognition.

Going through Pokemon Let’s Go and making sure I beat all the coach trainers, and worming on beating all the master trainers.  So far I’ve just got the title of Pikachu Master. Still need to catch Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave. Oh yeah, I bought the crown accessory for my Pikachu .  $999,999 Pokedollars and completely unnecessary but why not! lol

I’m getting a mouse for my laptop.  I got 2 games for my PC recently (Assassins Creed: Unity and The Sims 4) and know nothing about gaming on a computer, the controls are completely unfamiliar to me.  I think having a mouse will make things quite a bit easier.

There are so many great games coming out within the next year and I’m excited play them and for my collection to grow.

Thanks for reading!

Animal Crossing, What it’s About and Why I Love It

Animal Crossing is one of my favorite game series. I love it because it’s charming, relaxing, laid back, and can be played endlessly as there’s really no beginning or end/complex story line, which may sound unappealing to some but I find it to be wonderful and freeing, giving players the ability really make the town their own.

I had never played an Animal Crossing game until I bought New Leaf, and instantly fell in love.  It’s a series that began all the way back in 2001.  Somehow, I never heard much about it, probably because I wasn’t seriously into gaming aside from the Pokemon titles until a couple years ago.  In AC New Leaf, you become the mayor of a town full of Animal characters.  As the mayor, you have many duties such as keeping up with maintaining the environment (pulling weeds, watering/planting flowers, disposing of any garbage found), doing tasks requested by the villagers which may include things like getting them a certain type of fruit, fish, bug, or piece of furniture.  You also get to do public works projects which are different features you can fund to be put into your town like water fountains, bridges, windmills, and many others.  Another responsibility as mayor is enacting town ordinances.

As the mayor you get to have your own house and expand it by paying off home loans from a character named Tom Nook.  To do this you can sell fruit, fish, sea shells, fossils, and any items you acquire throughout the game.  That’s another amazing aspect, there are SO many different items, wallpapers/flooring and furniture that can be used to decorate one’s home.  Another task is bringing fish, fossils, bugs, and pieces of art to the town museum run by an owl named Blathers.

There’s endless possibilities to make the town and your home into whatever theme or style you want.  It’s the most laid back game I’ve ever played, and the music is very relaxing.  I often find myself playing to relieve anxiety and stress, which from what I’ve read many others experience mental health benefits from playing.

After falling in love with New Leaf I discovered there was another AC available for the DS previously released called Wild World.  I’ve been playing around with that one and it’s a lot of fun as well.  The new AC game (titled New Horizons) for the Nintendo Switch was announced last week at E3. It’s not being released until March 20th, 2020 but I believe it’s definitely worth the wait.  The trailer/gameplay looks wonderful and I’m looking forward to playing when it’s released.  It happens to be coming out on International Happiness Day, not sure if that was intended or not but it certainly fits as Animal Crossing brings happiness to many. 🙂
